The faith of God comes to us as a gift from God. God deals us faith like a dealer in a card game. The greatness we need to aspire to is not in the level of our faith. We are all at the "more than enough" it is how we use it that makes the difference. At the point of salvation God gave us all the faith we needed it is up to us to reflect that faith.
God has already qualified us for every gift He's ever promised in His Word to His people. There is nothing in God that we need for which we need to qualify. Once we are "in God" we are given all we need. A believer doesn't have to read enough books or hear enough sermons to qualify to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
The mind is where the battle ground is. It is not about getting some faith. IT IS ABOUT GETTING RID OF DOUBT!
What I learned about me is that it is not about my getting more faith. It is about using the faith I have. It is about reflecting that faith back to God.
Honestly, I am not sure how I feel about everything in this book. I know the Bible says that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. So maybe what I should glean from that scripture is not that faith comes but doubt leaves by hearing. Hmm ... Thoughts?

Hi Cybil! Welcome to the blogosphere. I have not read "Qualified for a Miracle", but I think your analysis is correct. I feel that we sometimes block God's blessings by doubting our own power through God. Maybe the author should use the word "salvation" instead of "faith" for some of his analysis. There are no degrees of salvation, but I do feel that there are different levels of faith. In Matthew 17:20 (American Standard Version) it states, "And he saith unto them, Because of your little faith: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.” So, I would assume that even Jesus thought there were levels of faith and that you could have more/greater faith, but the point that the author (and Jesus) makes is that all you need is any amount of faith to partake of God's blessings and promises.
Hey Cybil,
Your comments on the book are well thought out. Faith is a great topic to start with. The book sounds interesting and i will consider picking this up. Hebrews 11:1-16 gives examples thoughout the Bible where Faith bridged the gap from Gods promise to proof on earth. I need to have more faith in my daily walk. Thanks Cybil for waking the Faith Man up..
Thank you emily and isaac for your comments. Faith is a very powerful and necessary tool. Hebrews 11:6 says "Without faith it is impossible to please God. Those who come to Him must believe that He is and that He is a rewarded of those who diligently seek Him." So whether we have little faith or great faith we need to have some or we simply CAN NOT please God.
Thanks again.
Dear Cybil,
thanks for your book comments, they are very inspiring.
I also meditate a lot about how to live in God's Will. So I'd like to comment on some of your comments, if you let me:
You say that God gave us all the faith we need and we are responsible for the way we respond (in faith). Emily mentioned the passage where Jesus assures us when he teaches that even if our faith is so little as a mustard seed, we can use it to overcome problems so big as a mountain (Matthew 17:19-21). Once I heard a metaphor which helped me a lot: "faith is like a muscle, all have it, but the ones who exercise it become stronger."
The father of that epileptic boy asked Jesus to help him with his unbelief, because he did believe! (Mark 9:24) - I think that one comment of yours applies here: we react righteously to God working (in the Word) on removing our doubts.
And you mention Romans 10:17 - "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God." To this scripture I'd say that the process of activating faith comes through hearing about Jesus and His gospel and then letting Jesus (the living Word of God) show us in the Word of God (Bible) what and how to believe. And Jesus shows us when we hear the Word from preachers, but also when we hear Him speak, right? Like the other book ("Hippo...") you read teaches...
Hope it adds up for good.
God bless you!
Ana ;-D
